PINCELADAS SONORAS. GUITAR AND ORGAN. Concert with the Spanish interpreter Mariangeles Sánchez Benimeli in Johannis’s Church (Johanniskirche)… an extraordinary concert with Mariangeles Sánchez Benimeli's compositions for the duo Guitar and Organ. We are accustomed to listen other duos such Organ and Flute, Organ and Trumpet, Organ and Saxophone... we thought that with Guitar; Organ and Guitar, would be impossible. Mariangeles Sánchez Benimeli, Valencian guitarist and composer, has demonstrated the opposite in this concert... as composer and guitarist she has placed to this duo, with great nobility, to the same height than other duos.

UM 15 Uhr (At 15 o’clock). For Soprano Saxophone and Guitar. Not without some degree of humor, the author, wants to represent musically a series of events that can happen between two musicians who met to rehearse. In this way, the titles of each of the movements: Appointment, Meeting, Peace and Disagreement, take a hypothetical test as extra musical reference.

… It is an original and very well constructed work, which develops across a modern language in which the diverse instrumental roles are very well treated and defined. The guitar is exploited very intelligently, so that, not only accompanist serves as instrument but it assumes a total equality of importance in the musical result of the piece. The saxophone for its part, adds a very unique color to the work.

... Mariangeles Sánchez Benimeli chose a program based on his own compositions in which the Valencian musicologist recorded its highly expressive and powerful command of the instrument... “Suite Melódica”, a Homage to Andrés Segovia, and “Tres caprichos” were the most valued works by the refined technique with an exposed open and heterodox conception of the instrument, in communion with her temperamental character.

Concert of Mariangeles Sánchez Benimeli; Works by Bach, Sor, Tárrega, Sanz, Albéniz, Villa Lobos, Sánchez Benimeli… the interpretation is so careful, refined and attentive that her Bach sounds fabulous, followed by the beautiful Etude Nr. 28 by Sor. Gaspar Sanz has a powerful and expressive effect. She renders an excellent interpretation of the complex and unusual Villa-Lobos, and her own works reveal fine qualities and a deep knowledge of the instrument.

The repertoire on this new album from Rhythmuston HS 150, Berlin, is as varied as attractive and nobility of line Bach as his romantic charming Sor... specially interesting is her work, "Improvisation on the Tomb of H. Villa-Lobos" nothing short amount effective speech, harmonic interest... conveys an elegiac atmosphere in memory of Villa-Lobos expressed through a purified and musical work. Also the gentle Valencian composer achieves an extraordinary aesthetic counterpoint in her beautifully and magnificently flowing “Estudio colorido” as well as in “Nocturno en Re”, another demanding piece, through the excellent musical means she employs, so that the listener follows the articulated phrasing with great interest until the end.

"... her works are full of pieces of life and sensitivity, and also with many ”images" or evocations, like painting or small pictures, for example snow in the “Retiro of Madrid”. As well, as many moments of peace and serenity, and even little notes of humor... "

"... what most defines her style in her work is the light, the spontaneity, the Mediterranean musicality in definitively... "

M. Angeles Sánchez supported during the whole recital the attention of the public before the difficult virtuosity of a guitar. She knows how to pulse and starts songs that demonstrate her technical mastery and her musical transmission, precisely in a difficult program... She was awarded with the applause of those who filled the “Teatro Real” in this occasion.

"… we are talking about Mariangeles Sánchez Benimeli, resident in Germany... she is a sensitive guitarist who takes care of the sound and the programs. Her technique allows you to reach very different meaning and intentionality works and get out all of them. Particularly interesting is her sense of timbre and always musical resolution who knows how to give to each problem that the works presented. Her concert was expected with interest and quality and was followed by a great audience that applauded abundantly... "

The CD edited by "Picaromedia, Berlin" comes to us from Berlin... where we can admire Sánchez Benimeli as interpreter and as composer. The work, always discovers to us the emotive capacity of the composer and the great control of the technical language to communicate fine sensitivities, brilliant moment of force and this mysterious power of harmonies that move to a state difficult to express. Mariangeles Sánchez Benimeli achieves it fully, so much in her composition, "Improvisación sobre la tumba de H. Villa-Lobos” like in the "Nocturno en Re "…
